A highly regarded portrait artist, Babá went through a transformation turning her interest in the human form to her real passion; painting rich ethnic subjects and costumed performers associated with dance theater and the performing arts. This diversification opened a platform for her dynamic talents.

She is an award-winning pastelist known for her rich impressions of capricious women, nudes, elegant mimes and provocative character studies. Her images are boldly painted in vivid scintillating colors and textures, executed with the consummate skill of a master colorist. Babá primarily works on board and is adept at a variety of media and scale. Her fine art drawings illustrate her mastery and solid foundation in anatomy.

Babá is a charismatic artist with a flair for the dramatic and theatrical. Art, she says poetically, “is my performance, my stage, my theater...welcome to my fantastic world!” Where appropriate, a rose frequently appears in each painting of women. It is not by chance that the rose's name also identifies the title of the woman and the painting..this is Baba's personal signature.

Babá is a Lifetime Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA) located in the historic National Arts Club in New York City, NY. She is also a signature member and respected juror for several other prestigious art organizations.

Founded in 1972 by Flora B. Giffuni, the Pastel Society of America (PSA) is the oldest, most prestigious society in America. PSA is largely responsible for the renaissance of pastels in American art. The society's outstanding annual exhibitions at the National Arts Club in New York are premier events for pastel artist in this country and abroad. This society's name is synonymous with excellence in the art world.
